Press vehicle attacked during BCIF bandh
Itanagar, Oct 04: An employee of The Arunachal Pioneer escaped unhurt when bandh supporters pelted stones at the press vehicle at around 5 a.m. today. The vehicle sustained damage near the left front window.

Fortunately only one stone hit the vehicle, leaving a deep cut mark on the metal body. The rest missed the target. Soon after the attack spree the group left the place and the press vehicle resumed journey to Itanagar to despatch the newspapers to the agencies.
The incident has left the employees and staff of The Arunachal Pioneer in shock, as the press is usually exempt from bandh purviews.

ROING, Oct 04: The food crisis caused by snapping of road communication due to weeks
of incessant rain has interrupted schooling for more than 600 children across middle
Dibang Valley. This is a region spread across Etalin circle head quarter in Dibang
Valley district and Hunli sub-
Sources said that district education authority in Roing has appealed for temporary closure of all schools in Hunli Block, citing disruption of road communication, ration and other necessity for sustenance.
The schools affected in Lower Dibang Valley districts are government middle school, Hunli, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Hunli, government residential school, Elope, government secondary school, Desali and government residential school, Jumupani.
In Dibang Valley district, government primary school, Malinye, government middle school, Etalin, government lower primary school, Ryalli and New Anaya have closed down or running on half of the school strength, as all the hostel boarders have vacated their hostels due to food shortages.
“The last batch of students of government middle school, Hunli staying at school hostels have left today for their villages. With this, all the 76 hostel boarders have vacated their hostel leaving behind them only 16 days scholars,” informed Papre Umbrey, headmaster, government middle school, Hunli.
The situation is same for Elope and Jumupani residential schools, where parents are reporting that school children are returning back to their homes. In KGBV School, 100 girl students staying in hostels are awaiting evacuation to their native places in Roing and Anini, stranded due to food shortages.
“The KGBV students are now staying with local people in their houses,” said Umbrey. “And this is causing burden to some poor villagers, as they themselves are facing ration shortages.”
Reports from Anini have said that government primary school, Malinye had remained closed for more than three months due to ration shortage. In government middle school, Etalin, due to non availability of food in hostel, 68 student inmates have left for their nearby villages interrupting their schooling. The school is currently functioning with only 72 days scholars.

Arunachal Governor lauds IAF role in relief and rescue work
ITANAGAR, Oct 04: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh General (Retd) J.J. Singh commended the Indian Air Force (IAF) for their excellent job in relief and rescue operations during the recent flood in the state. He also lauded the force for the vital role in airdropping essential food items in the remote parts of the Frontier State and reaching out to the people at the time of need and emergency.
The Governor conveyed gratitude and good wishes to the IAF personnel on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, during his visit to the Eastern Air Command (EAC) Headquarter, Shillong on October 3 and 4. He expressed his confidence that the IAF, which is built on strong foundations and has glorious traditions will continue to grow from strength to strength and carry out given tasks in a most efficient manner.

Ziro, Oct 04: The folk dance yatra organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur in collaboration with the Dept of Art and culture, GoAP made a colorful halt at the pristine and beautiful Ziro valley today.
Flagged off on April 13 at Panchkhula, Punjab by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Yatra has so far covered Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Assam in its first and second phase. As a part of its third phase, the yatra will cover Bomdila, Passighat, Itanagar and Ziro in the North East.
“This is the right platform to preserve, promote and disseminate the rich cultural heritage of rural India, said Nido Pavitro, Parliamentary Secretary, Health and family welfare while addressing the packed St Claret College Auditorium. Folk dances are an extension of rural India, he added and exhorted the students to stay rooted to their cultural heritage.

Speaker inaugurates rain water harvesting structure
KHONSA, Oct 04: Arunachal Assembly Speaker Wanglin Lowangdong inaugurated the rain water storage tank at Khonsa DC office premise amidst a huge gathering today. The project has been implemented jointly by the district administration and DRDA.
Speaking on the occasion, Lowangdong said that the rain water harvesting system was a welcome step towards creating awareness on importance of rain water harvesting. He said that the abundant rain water Khonsa received went wasted because of ignorance adding that a loud and clear message should be sent to the people to harvest the rain water for their use during the dry winter months.
While appreciating the Deputy Commissioner for his initiative, Lowangdong said that the simple method of collecting the rain water could be implemented even by the villagers. He further said that private individuals should start rain water harvesting and urged the experts from DRDA and PHED to provide the necessary technical guidance to the people,
Earlier in his welcome address Tirap Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sachin Shinde explained the methodology and benefit of rain water harvesting adding that Khonsa received heavy rainfall in summer but the residents faced acute scarcity of water in winter. He said that only rain water harvesting could solve the chronic water supply problem in Khonsa and asked all construction agencies to mandatorily include inbuilt rain water harvesting provision whenever they built any structure. The DC asked the people to make rain water harvesting a community movement adding that the district administration had created a mass awareness to keep the streams in the Khonsa Township neat and clean so that the residents could use those streams during the lean months. He said that orders had been passed to dismantle all the kutcha toilets constructed near the streams.

Beat Out Post (BOP) of APPBn to shift their camp as the river may erode the BOP and
the nearby daily market in Assam-
The cops deputed in the BOP were looking for a protection measure from the authority’s end. But, observing the impeding danger, they have shifted the camp today with the help of the local people.
The BOP at Debing village, located at about 10 km west from here, is allegedly being neglected by the successive governments by not taking up any protection measures despite massive erosion since last several years.
Debing area falls under Pasighat West constituency and located at a vulnerable state boundary area. The BOP camp has been running without the minimum requirements for the years and the security of the police personnel deputed therein has become a burning question.
“The very existence of the historically important Debing area is now on verge of extinction due to negligence by the state governments. We have been moving the state government for initiating proper protection measures”, rued Kamin Apum, an Anchal Somity Member of Debing.

TEZU, Oct 04: ATMA Lohit district, Kheram in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Momong, has conducted training cum farmers scientist interaction programme today. The programme was attended by DTO cum PD ATMA Lohit district M. Chowlu, PTO FTC D. Baman, Debasish Borah, SMS (Agronomy) KVK Lolit, Chandramoni Singh, SMS (Horticulture), SADO Namsai B. Biswas, HDO Namsai, Farm women of Momong and Chongkham including members from SHGs. The training was conducted in the Momong village and a total of 90 farm women attended the programme with a motto to enhance knowledge of scientific cultivation among women farmers.

However, I would like to state here that the state Govt. should reform Itanagar police on the lines of Delhi police by providing all necessary directives, guidelines and facilities for effective functioning and tackling law and order problems easily. Very sincere, dedicated police officers are the need of hours and Govt. should recognize their selfless services to the people. If Law enforcing department is working properly, then all other departments will work peacefully for bringing development.
I once again, sincerely appeal state Govt to keep peace and security in its top priority agenda by handling its law enforcing agency efficiently as proper handling of law enforcing agency is the key to maintain peace and ensure security of the state. It is good to think that Chief Minister is taking up several welfare measures for people of state. As he is planning to win all the hearts and minds of people of state by bringing tremendous development as Gujarat Chief Minister did in his state, so it is not needed be hurry that everything should be in place at one time.

Emergence of new crimes and morality
Dear Editor,
Arunachal Pradesh is known for peace and tranquility since times immemorial. The Doyni Polo religion teaches ahimsa and all and sundry admired its value but with the passage of time human pollution has begun to infest the honesty of tribals, the worst and heinous part is that even the tribal people here in peaceful land started to learn how to purloin, vandal, molest and commit illegal activities from those exotic intruders. Every walk of life fresh crimes are on the rise. It's alarming to the peace loving people, how people learn negative things as fast lightning.
If the government of the state pays deaf to such criminal activities, no doubt that people will become victim of terror one day. Thus morality and propagation of natural religion with proper education is essential to keep unforeseen emergence of crimes away.
